Almost as prolific as the "Lazy Blogger"

I just realized that I have not made a post in one week. I have been busy working with the family to de-clutter our home. We would like to sell it by fall and so one room after another has taken on a new perspective. The outside has been in need of help and this has also been part of our effort. The best thing about this effort is the grandkids are getting into it and wanting to help. My favorite story is my 4 year old granddaughter, Sydney, who wants to help Grampa weed! When she hears Grampa is outside weeding she quickly gets out of bed, puts on here clothes and skips breakfast for a few moments and comes outside. She gets her hat, her gloves, flower spade and bucket and comes help Grampa. The other day she worked very hard and pulled almost 30 large weeds. I was amazed at her desire to work in the garden. She was enjoying the effort and was asking Grampa which weeds were OK to pull. Her best question: Why are we pulling weeds if Heavenly Father created them? My answer did not suffice but as the trooper she is she kept on working with Grampa.

Another interesting event surrounded was my oldest Granddaughter, Hallie. We were all working hard sorting things for D.I., storage or ready for the landfill when her Mom and Dad asked her to do the Laundry for the first time. Hallie worked at the laundry all day, sorting into piles, filling the washer, adding soap, then moving the wash clothes to the dryer to be dried, and then folding and putting the clothes away. She was very diligent and would asked help for those things that she was unsure of. I was greatly impress and so were her parents, so much so we all declared a DQ night.

A simple thought

Today at work we wanted to celebrate the release of our new software. They decided to have RootBeer Floats. This was a great idea. You would think the ice cream servers would learn that a frozen solid 5 gallon tub of ice cream takes a while to thaw; which was learned 1.5 weeks ago when we honored one of our Vice-presidents for an honorary degree he received. It took three hours for the ice cream to be served. Everyone had comments. So what happens today with some of the people who made those comments. They take the ice cream out 5 minutes before. Go figure..... Will they ever learn?

I was good 1/2 cup tdy with diet rootbeer.

Sports Enthusiast

Well it is that time of year, NCAA Woman's Softball and a challenge for U of A; they have to travel to NY for their first round. They have so much talent but have struggled putting it all together. Baseball has kick-off and my Yankees are doing their famous 'May Slump Dance' but as the optimist I am they will recover after the All-Star Break'. Then we have the NBA finals which I thought would be a shoe-in for LA and Boston but the Jazz and Lebron have different ideas. Then if that is not enough sports for this time of year,we have the Return of Tiger in two weeks, hopefully at the Memorial. Golf is not the same without him. In the background is a sport called Hockey working towards the Stanley Cup and I don't even know who is playing.. Some enthusiast I am.

Mother's Day

Today was a great day. I attended my meetings with the Student Stake and it was great to listen to the speakers (College Students) tell about the influence their mom's have had in their lives. They are right, none of us would be who we are without the Love and nurturing of our Moms. Even though my Mom has left this life many years ago, I am very thankful for what she taught me. Some of the many things she taught me are: how to iron clothes, to do the laundry, to cook, to be kind to others. She taught me to be compassionate and to see things from another's point of view, she taught me to be patient and understanding and to treat woman with the utmost respect and one of the biggest things she taught was to be honest in all my dealings. I truly love my Mom for these things. I am who I am because of her.

I treasure another mother in my life, my Wife, and know that my children are who they are because of her nurturing influence in their lives. I love my wife dearly and appreciate the blessing she is in my life, for her love and her desire to serve her Heavenly Father. She is my lover, my friend, my cherish companion and my pal. Her biggest diamond in the sky is her very compassionate heart. She is always thinking of others first and together we are always doing things for people. Over the years she has open our home to friends and family and created the Stevens' Hotel. She has made many different things to make their life better, happier, and even easier. I am a fortunate man to have a loving wife and 3 caring daughters; they are the Stars that light up my life.

Again I'm am very thankful for Mother's Day and the opportunity to reflect on the blessings of Motherhood. It is a gift from Heavenly Father to have a mother in our lives. I look forward to seeing my Mom and my Heavenly Parents for the eternities with my wife and family at my side. Truly there is no finer blessing for any of God's children.

I was wondering

1...Is it hotter in NY or in the summertime?
2.....Can fat people go skinny dipping?
3.......Why is the word "abbreviation" so long?
4.........If a parsley farmer is sued, do they garnish his wages?
5...........Should vegetarians eat animal crackers?
6.............Do cemetery workers prefer the graveyard shift?
7...............Isn't it a bit unnerving that doctors call what they do "practice"?
8.................When sign makers go on strike, is anything written on their signs?
9...............If a turtle does not have a shell, is he homeless or naked?
10............Why do they sterilize the needles for lethal injections?
11..........Is it true cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?
12........If you shoot a mime, should you use a silencer?
13......What is the speed of dark?
14....If a tree falls in the forest does it make a sound?
15...Why is it that rain drops but snow falls?

THE TESTs of TIME

Today, I was buried in the process of releasing software. Endless lists of problems and fixes with more testing then more lists. However, the goal is to provide the customer with a product that is user friendly with the least amount of errors.

If it were not for release cycles, we would have plenty of time for our normal job, which is supporting our customers and helping to sell product. I am hoping for good feedback from our users which can only come from endless list; thus The Tests of Time.
